As part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is the bus and truck safety agency. One of our missions is to reduce highway fatalities while best ensuring the safe transportation of passengers. We issue, administer, and enforce the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and Commercial Regulations that apply to commercial motor vehicles transporting passengers.
FMCSA's Commercial Passenger Carrier Safety Division within the agency's headquarters develops policies, plans, and guidance in matters related to commercial passenger safety. Division staff persons respond to stakeholder demands and strive to attain program goals to best ensure the safe transportation of passengers. This website was developed as an outreach and educational initiative.
