Government-Industry Partnership Seeks Security Technology Information from Vendor Industry; Searchable Database Now Available
Washington, DC - The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is currently updating the National Hazmat Transportation Security initiative's Hazmat Technology Compendium. The "HM Tech Compendium" is a compilation of security technologies that attempts to identify security solutions similar to those tested in the National Hazmat Transportation Security field test.
In support of this effort, the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) is compiling information from security technology vendors for two different Security Technology Compendiums. The first COTS Compendium is expanding the known list of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products and vendors. These are products that exist in the marketplace today. The second ET Compendium is attempting to identify new or evolving security technologies (emerging technologies) that are likely to enter the marketplace in the next 14 months. The vendor information provided to the ET Compendium must not be proprietary or confidential.
ATRI invites technology vendors involved in security to become a part of one or both Technology Compendiums by visiting the FMCSA Web site and clicking the Vendor Survey section.
ATRI has also developed an online Web site that allows interested users to search the COTS Technology Compendium using a range of metrics such as security technology type, vendor name, product keyword, etc.
The Hazmat Transportation Security Field Test was an FMCSA-sponsored research program that tested a suite of technologies that may improve the security and productivity of HM operations. The research team included Battelle Institute, Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance and ATRI among other team members.
